The First Post

Welcome to the grand opening of the Nitro Blog.

I'm excited to have the privilege to be the first person to post and welcome you into our family.

I've been spending all week trying to think of the best way to start this blog off, what is the best big take-away I can give you and set the stage for the many amazing things we will be sharing with you here in the future.

In the end, I decided to answer the question everybody is always asking us "What does Nitro Marketing do?" And share with you a little insight into what we are about, what we are up to, and in the process show you the value you will be seeing at this blog so you come back again and again.

BE SURE TO READ TO THE END… because there is a HUGE take-away for you, that if you "get it" can easily blow your mind, your business and your income wide open.  (click the link to continue on)

And as you will quickly see over the coming weeks, this will be where the entire team here at Nitro will be sharing with you invaluable information on a regular, even daily basis.

In fact, the Nitro Blog will be very unique from most of the stuff you see out there. We want you to stick around and choose it as your MUST READ blog.

We will be covering topics such as…

  • How To Work Less And Live More (and make more money at the same time). How to really live the Internet lifestyle.
  • The successful processes, tactics and major takeaways we see in the multi-million dollar businesses we are involved in.
  • How 2 small tweaks turned the immediate customer value of one of our businesses from $46.17 to $254.28  (a more than 5 times increase) — this is what's called a Quantum Leap in your business.
  • How to get started making money online, stay focused and follow through until you accomplish your goals.
  • New, unique and innovative ways to generate more traffic to your site.
  • How to develop and have the mindset successful people have, including practical, simple steps you can take to start seeing immediate results.
  • How to be more successful, learn faster, avoid roadblocks and quickly master anything you set out to accomplish.
  • How to tame the #1 time waster (and most addictive activity) in your business — email.
  • Usable, easy to apply tips and principles to build your long-term wealth and avoid the common traps up-and-coming entrepreneurs almost always make.
  • How to grow and automate your business, freeing up your time to work less and spend the time you do work on activities you enjoy most and are most effective.

A quick walk in the past…

I find it funny that it took us this long to launch our blog because we were pioneering the blog industry over 6 years ago. One of the first 5 sites we started here at Nitro, back when we were heavily involved in the domain industry, was a site called BlogNames.com

We were starting a lot of projects back then, some that went on to become extremely successful. Unfortunately that one never gained any traction and thus didn't receive the attention it needed to take off because it could have been another home run for us.

(FYI, you will see how by using a simple exercise I'll be sharing with you in a future post, you too can have a virtually unlimited number of potential home run businesses.)

What is Nitro Marketing? (And today's BIG take-away)

As I look back over the years marketing online, dating back to the mid 1990's when I was working off a 28.8 baud modem in my college dorm room, my biggest successes had one thing in common.

And then when Matt and I started Nitro Marketing many of the company's biggest successes had the very same thing in common.

And moving forward, as we grow into a $30 million dollar a year company over the next 3 years, it will again have the same thing in common.

Do you want to know what that one thing is?

Of course you do!

But first, I want to make sure you fully appreciate what I have to say because it could be easy for you to think its too simple.

In fact, for the longest time I ignored it and it has cost us MILLIONS!! So please don't ignore, dismiss or don't see how to apply this to your life and business too.

First, the PRINCIPLE behind this one thing is just as important as the one thing. That's because if you know the principle(s) why something works than you can duplicate it time and time again with anything you set out to do. Its when you try and copy something without knowing the principles behind why it works that failure and frustration set in quickly.

The principle is:

"Figure out what you are GREAT at doing AND also LOVE doing and create a business that let's you do that."

Now if you break that principle down its pretty deep and has a lot of parts to it, which we will cover in future blog posts, but for now just look at the big picture of what it is about. Which leads us to what that "one thing" I keep talking about.

Second, the ONE COMMON THING in our business, that has been responsible for virtually every major success we have had (even dating back to me working out of my door room on a 28.8 baud modem in the 90's) is….

Be The Marketer. (or the Contenter)

The problem I see a lot of people have is they try and be everything.

In an information product business there are 2 main roles to play — CONTENT and MARKETING. (Also administration such as customer support, web dude, etc but in the big picture those are small and easy to solve and we will cover them in future posts too).

And the person who is great at content is generally somebody who does not thrive in marketing and vice versa. They are two entirely different skill sets, mindsets and ways of writing.

So what you end up with is two groups of people:

First group are those with great information and customers who love them, but never make any money because they can't market themselves.

Second group are those who struggle trying to figure out what market they will focus on, then struggle even more creating the product and by the time it comes to market it (assuming they even made it that far) they are burned out and already jumped to the next opportunity. Many times these are the people you see get involved in the Internet Marketing/Make Money market because they are marketing what they love doing.

Now, you might have noticed the subtlety obvious.

The two groups are a PERFECT match!!

And, that is what Nitro Marketing is…

It is a business where somebody who is a marketer (that's us) partners with somebody who is a content creator (that is all of our clients).

   The take away for you…

First, remember the principle behind this "Figure out what you are GREAT at doing AND also LOVE doing and create a business that let's you do that."

And second ask yourself which one are you — marketer or content creator.

Then create your business being that person.

We'll talk more on HOW to do that for people in either group in future blog posts so yet another reason to stick around!

I'm surprised it took so long for you to do a blog. Many marketers are continually saying how great a marketing tool a blog is and I'm finding that out myself.

I, for one, will want to be checking out your blog regularly as your business approach is tops. Hoping you will delve some into blogging as well, as I really feel it is the easiest and quickest way for someone to start bringing in traffic.

Contratulations with your new blog.
I am glad to see that you are open to create a dialog with your readers as a blog is a great opportunity to do that. With good content your blog can also be a place that attracts many people and sometimes even be your virtual internet traffic software that get you settled with endless prospects for a long time as I have experienced myself. In these days high quality content is very ímportant, as it is not often seen. I am sure that you will give your readers good quality in this blog.

This looks like it may be really helpful. Looking forward to it.

Gentlemen,

I must say … you are as informative and informed as any other marketers on the 'Net.

This blog will allow for immediate feedback
for you, your endeavors and feedback for those that work with you.

Do what you love and the money will follow?
There is a problem with that phrase.
Most people equate love with a feeling.
Feelings are fleeting.

A minister I spoke to put it in the proper perspective … he told me …
Love is an act of will.

One need dig deep to find that "Love".
Keep in mind that most of the time one need do what one must do in order to do what one "Loves" to do.

Thanks for your continued excellence,
Jim Cook

I've been a subscriber (wow just realized) since June 2004, so 3 years, and have watched with interest the way you guys do business, and I applaud you. Also participated in a couple of your programs - 10in90 last year was superb!

You have much experience and success tips to share with us to help us to aspire to your level of success.

I wish you well and much more.

You guys are right, and (sorry Jimmy), Jimmy is a little off base.

You can be successful when you love something - when you are passionate about the topic/activity; when time flies while you are doing it; when it does not feel like work; and so on.

You are also correct in saying that content without marketing, and visa versa, is destined for failure (or mediocrity).

I personally question some of the methods used: cookie-cutter web pages, size 18 red font, highlighted text, 18 bonus offers worth "1000's of dollars", incredible promises, 35 testimonials, and so on. But if it works, it works. (I think it insults people's intelligence and makes it overly complicated - but that's just me.)

Hello Kevin,
I am looking forward to more info on the "HOW" of creating a business; as someone who is quite comfortable creating content, but have been very unsuccessful at marketing it. Hopefully, I'll find some help here.

I hope that you'll also be writting about residual income. It's my belief that residual income is better then any other form of marketing overall.
The reason in my opinion this stands so true is the fact that from one sale you are paid
over and over again without doing anything further to get that payment. It's locked in!

Congratulations on your blog. I'll be adding it to my blogroll on my own blog. I love the way you are inviting dialogue with users and permitting comments. And as for whether I'm a marketer or content creator — oh, if only I knew! That's my challenge for the near future.. and thanks for making me aware of it.

Sorry to take up blog space for this comment, but I just had to say AMEN! to Jason's comment about insulting people's intelligence. You're not the only one that feels that way, Jason. Oh that we could change the world. ;-) (At least the internet marketing world.)

Hi Kevin and Matt,

Congrats on the new blog. I certainly look forward to following it.

I've learned a lot over the years from you guys, the way you do business, and your alliances with Mark Joyner and Joe Vitale.

Concerning the comments from Jason about some of the marketing tactics (and I agree to a degree with what he's saying about personal feelings): If those marketing tactics contribute to credibility and making up an irresistable offer, it doesn't matter much what out opinion of the tactic is.

All that matters is what works with the target market and the only way to really find out is to test.

And that seems to me to be one of Nitro's strengths is testing and finding what works into todays environment.

Warmly yours for success,

Hi Kevin

Outstanding starting point for your blog.

Finding what you love or are very good at, can take some time and often you may have to try a bunch of stuff to find out, but it is worth going after.

Glad you brought it up in your first post.

Look forward to more insights soon.

Nitro Dudes..

Good luck with the blog. I completely understand why it took so long - must have been the search for the copywriter (and assuming you did hire someone, never heard back from you.)
Had you hired me, you could've found out "The Top Ten Secrets To Tripling Your Blog Traffic" or "How To Make Money Blogging From Your iPhone On The Toilet."

Thanks everyone for the kind words and great comments and feedback so far. It is much appreciated and motivating!

To add to the conversation….

We have had this blog (and a couple others) on the idea/to-do list for some time because of the power a blog has with communication and attracting new people to your business. And the entire Nitro team has a lot of great things we want to share but never had a place to share it.

But it was one of my first mentors in business (from way back when I was a pimply faced goofy 20 year old) that did it. In less than 2 months he built his blog up to 12,000+ visitors a month (without a list, etc - just using blogging best practices). You can check out David's blog at http://www.didyousmellthat.com (Don't let the name throw you off, its still a good blog ;-)

Jason, the next post I am doing is related with what you talked about. So I'll wait until after that goes up before digging into this mindset.

Cammie, great point - residual income. One of the MUST have requirements in any new business venture we do is residual income. And for anybody that has been able to see the training on the Nitro Blueprint System know that the monthly residual income fits in perfectly with our blueprint for doing business online.

The feeling and security that comes from knowing when you wake up the 1st day of the month and you will automatically make $X that month without having to get a new customer is very, VERY powerful.
