This is a story I’ve never told before. Although now in hindsight it was one of the most
profound lessons I’ve learned.
It’s the story of how I was the first user, customer and affiliate for Aweber.com (the
1st and also the largest autoresponder company) over 13 years ago.
And how I ended up, unknowingly at the time, creating a residual income 13 years ago
that I’m still getting paid for today… despite not doing anything, literally, the past 12
years to “earn it” or “work for it”.
And, more importantly, how the “stars have aligned” for the same phenomenon to
occur (only this one is much bigger) for you and me right now today during a
brief “window of opportunity”.
Imagine… its January 1st, 2023 and a you know a check for $11,379 is going to show up in
your mailbox that week… just like it has every month for the past 12 years.
How would your life be different if you know, no matter what, that income is there for you?
How It Happened, and How You Can Duplicate It Today
Every 10 to 12 years a new, radical change in technology comes out.
Go back in time and you can trace it with electricity, cars, TV, cable, phones, computers, the
internet, email marketing. Each one of those created massive wealth for the people who
were able to get in early and capitalize on the opportunity.
The last major one we saw was the advent of email marketing and the fancy autoresponder.
Now a-days we take those things for granted. However in an internet long, long ago,
autoresponders never existed. When I was getting started in 1996 there was no such thing.
Back then, I had become friends online with another college kid named Tom Kulzer. He was
in Pennsylvania, I was in Iowa, and we were both marketing online while going to college.
One day Tom sent me this top-secret email, about a top secret project he had been working
on for months. He then preceded to describe the modern day autoresponder with the
ability to build a list, send automated followup emails and broadcast emails to that list.
Previous to this, I would literally manage my own follow-up sequence of emails I would
send, one at a time per person, with my trusty old Eudora email program (kinda like Outlook).
A couple weeks later Tom asked me to beta-test this new amazing tool that he called
Aweber. I actually “blew it up” with 100’s of leads the first day (funny story, can share it
with you over drinks one day).
Long story short I was the first customer and affiliate (I’m affiliate 101, they now have over
250,000 affiliates) for the first company in this game changing space of followup email
marketing.
How I Created a 13 Year Residual Income
For the first few months, I spent a few hours a week signing businesses up to the service.
Not because I was an amazing visionary and knew what I was doing… instead I was flat
broke, using a credit card to pay my rent, and living off of any meal I could make for less
than a $1 (picture a cabinet full of ramen noodles and the plain box macaroni ‘n cheese).
Which meant I was doing it solely to make some fast money.
I also reached out to some other people I knew, and signed them up as affiliates too since I
would get a commission from their referrals. And they went out and signed up businesses
as well, which was nice because I was able to leverage my time and results.
Then, after a month or two, entrepreneurial ADD kicked in and I never did anything with
it… for 13 years. (Yes, we recommend Aweber now but through a different affiliate account
for Nitro, the original account hasn’t been touched since then until now.)
Here’s the interesting thing.
Right now every month a check shows up, paying me a commission for those few hours
of work I put in 13 years ago in 1998. That, literally, is the true form of residual income.
Why Is a 13 Year Long Residual Income Possible?

How Is It Possible RIGHT NOW?
It’s called “Golden Handcuffs” technology.
It’s a technology that delivers results (more customers, more money) to the companies that
use it.
And, once a company starts using it they will never change because of the “pain of
disconnect” is so great (for example setting up and moving all of their subscribers to a new
technology platform).
And since we are targeting local businesses, it is even less likely they will change because
they would have no idea, desire or ability to figure it out. All they care is it works and
makes them money.
And the opportunity with mobile marketing is dramatically bigger than the one with
autoresponders.
FIRST, the number of businesses that would sign up for it right now is in the tens of
millions. You just take 3 steps out your front door and you are tripping over new potential
clients.
SECOND, once they start using it, they will keep using it for years (think of the 13 year
residual income standpoint). And because it’s a monthly service, you get paid a commission
every single month.
THIRD, its an EASYYYY sale to make. When you use the “demo approach” we teach, within
a minute you have grabbed their attention and having them wanting to know more. Then,
next, just show them a video that sells the service for you and they are ready to get started.
We have members, their first DAY, lining up 2, 3, 6 or more appointments to close deals.
FOURTH, once they start using the service, you never have to deal with them again. No
support, no help, no nothing you have to do. Your ONLY job is to get businesses signed up.
FIFTH, if the mobile marketing platform you use has a robust reseller program, where you
are also compensated for brining on other agents… you can create tremendous leverage by
having other people signing up clients and you get a small piece of that business too.
That’s what I did with Aweber… I spent most of my time signing up clients, but also a small
amount of time getting other affiliates since I got 10% of what they sold as well.
What Businesses Are Good Fit?
If somebody has a business that is based on returning customers (restaurants, any type
of retail store, service providers like dentists or accountants, charities, churches, etc, etc,
etc…)
Or scheduled appointments where they would want to send an automated reminder of
their appointment (like salons, massage centers, dentists, law offices, etc, etc, etc…)
Or benefits from staying in touch with people (almost any business falls into this category,
as well as charities, churches, schools, sports teams, politicians, etc, etc, etc…)
How To Capitalize On This Residual Income Creating Window
of Opportunity?

You and I chatted before the holidays when I was
approaching the $10k mark 30 days after LAUNCH
and you asked me to do an interview for LIMA,
so I wanted to get back to you so we can schedule
to make that happen.
But first I want to tell you my personal story
from the beginning, to give you perspective of
how you and Kelly have changed my life.
THE TRAGEDY OF PARADISE LOST
Two years ago, I lost my Gym business to a poor
economy, my house was foreclosed, truck repossessed,
401k depleted in a failed attempt to recover.
My wife left with my baby girls when the money
dried up and the bill collectors surrounded me
to move in and pick what was left off of my bones.
I was a complete failure on the verge of filing
bankruptcy, having retained a bankruptcy attorney.
I was ready to curl up die, alone, defeated and
hopeless.
THE PHOENIX RISES FROM THE ASHES
I purchased LBMM 2 times but had to return it both
times for a refund because I simply could not afford
to pay for it.
I then made the decision that LBMM was what I was
going to do, so I bought it again a 3rd time,
this 3rd time for I got LBMM for keeps.
I reluctantly borrowed money from a skeptical family
member to attend LAUNCH. I came to LAUNCH with empty
pockets wearing sweats and t-shirts as that was all
I had, I ate granola bars and drank water all weekend,
saving what little money I had to go for a couple of
drinks with my new LBMM friends, and at the end of
each Launch day, I would secretly walk 3 blocks to
stay my discount hotel, just happy that I had made
it to Launch.
I fell asleep with the thoughts of inspiration that
had replaced my nightly routine of tears. I went
home with a plan and new wind in my sails.
CURRENTLY CRUSHING IT!
Well, I will be hitting the $20k mark once I close
either one of the two consultative meet and greets
that I have this Friday, just 2 months after LAUNCH
almost to the date.
I can't believe the amazing success I am having with
this program. I now have clients in MA, MC, TX and FL now.
My client in MA has me working on 8 sites in 2011
and they fly me up to Boston each week for 2 days to
meet with them and work on-site 2 days a week.
THE FUTURE LOOKS GREAT
I am on track for my written goal of $100k per month
by the end of 2011.

If you’ve been following me on facebook, you know for the past 5 weeks I’ve been doing a “workation” on a beach on the island of Florianopolis, Brazil and its 42 beaches (or as the locals call it, Floripa.)
Workation is my made up word of living for an extended period time, in another
part of the world you would like to experience, while still running your business
remotely. Part Work, Part Vacation.
An interesting side story I learned after I got here… this location (actually even the
house I’m renting out) is where Tim Ferris finished writing his book “4 Hour Work Week”.
And after a quick trip back home to see my family for the holidays, I’m coming back
to live here for a few more months.
And the reason is not the one you would think.
Yes, there are of course the obvious reasons.
Weather (80+ degrees and sunny, instead of the 40’s back home)
Beach and Surfing (I’m a 3 minute walk to Praia Mole beach, the best beach
on the island, and have been taking surf lessons – until I broke my toe last
week, ouchie)
People (Can’t say enough about the people of Floripa… some of the happiest,
nicest, friendliest, and most beautiful in the world. And they live, to live life
and enjoy the moment.)
Nightlife (Dinner starts around 10 or 11, weeknights make it home around
2 or 3, weekends you walk outside the club and the sun is out and 8am in the
morning. Needless to say this is a place that literally goes all night and sleeps
all day!)
But the REAL reason is not so obvious, and before I share it with you, first…

Christmas. During high season the island goes from 450,000 to 1.5 million people.
This beach will be full of happy Brazilians.

Churrascaria – A traditional Brazilian Barbeque (aka like Fogo de Chua or Texas de
Brazil in the states). A non stop onslaught of the best cooked meat in the world, here
you see the famous Brazilian Pichanha, hmm, hmm good!
Nightlife “Before” Pic - We met the owner of Confraria Club earlier in the week and
he hooked us up with his own VIP table, cool guy. This is the before picture, before
the adventure started.
Nightlife “After” Pic - And after, yep, we are down 2 men, and its 8:30am and we
are just walking out… and the place still had not closed down! Heard it kept going
for another hour plus… gotta love Brazil.
Nitro Energy, the official energizer of Brazil, now you know why this place is so
awesome!!
The Accordion Rock Band - Only in Brazil does a big pop band have not 1, but 2
accordion players… and they were seriously rocking it out.
I Love My Life - Just finished boarding down a massive sand dune in the middle of
the island. Reflecting on how life has been during this “Workation”.
End Of The Day - Time to head home, but only briefly, there is more of this world,
and more “Workations” to experience.
Now, the not so obvious reason I’m currently living in Brazil.
It has to do with the future of the United States economy.
Specifically a former student of Nitro’s training programs, Mike, who went on to
make over $15 million online the past 5 years.
The past several years we have become very good friends. In fact, when I go to
Austin, Texas I usually stay at his house.
And for the past 3 years, Mike has immersed himself, and sought out the top thought
leaders on where the country is heading economically.
At first I thought he was kinda crazy.
But then, 12 months ago he gave me a list of resources to go through, so I could
educate myself and make informed choices about business and the future. That’s

That’s because, like it or not, things are going to change over the next 3 years. Quite

Some people are focusing on the “losing” part, while others, like Mike and myself,
are focusing on the “winning” part.

of information he gave me into 90 minutes. Trust me, the 90 minutes is MUCH better
than the 8+ hours I went through to get up to speed (lucky you!!).
Its going to cover all the key things that are going on, and how to end up being in

Some people will focus on the negative side of the message he gives, which I advise
against. Instead focus on how to end up on the positive side of the equation.

1. Local Online Marketing:

(more so than anything else we’ve taught) go on to create full-time incomes. And

stream.

than the hips of a Brazilian dancing Samba.
At the end of the day, it means you are constantly trying to stay ahead of the
changes, it’s a lot of work and requires constant supervision.
If your goal is to create a true hands off income stream over the next 3 to 6 months, there is 1 specific approach to follow.
I used this little technique 12 years ago when follow-up autoresponders first came
out, and I’m still getting paid for that work 12 years later (it really, REALLY is
passive income). I’ll show you how to do it right now with mobile.

well as how I did it 12 years ago, and am doing it MUCH bigger right now today with
mobile.
What’s cool with this one, its pretty straightforward, so no information needed to

(FYI, my results are not typical, you will most likely make a lot less, but based on the
action you take, you could do really, really well, or make nothing at all.)
3. “4 Hour Work Week” Style:
One of my buddies who came on my 5-week Brazil “Workation” truly lives the “4-hr
work week” life. In fact earlier this year he spent 3 months traveling through Asia
and worked a total of 3 hours. I guess you call that the 1 hour work month!
Despite hardly ever doing anything (he will flat out tell you there is only 1 thing
he does, takes little time to do, but makes all the money)… he has a multi-million
business that is less than 2 years old, was built from scratch, and previous to that he
was completely broke and had nothing in life.
I’m getting him to share his story on how he did it. Earlier this week I gave him a
deadline to put it together. It’s funny, for the first time during this “Workation” he’s
been doing some work. Amazing the power that deadlines offer us entrepreneurs!!
So Why Am I Living in Brazil?
On my to-do list this year, based on what I learned from Mike, is to set up a business,
along with some property, in an overseas country for a number of reasons.
Imagine having your own dream place in this world. With a house owned free and
clear, that you can travel to whenever you want. Even take mini-retirements to. Or,
like I will be doing, going there in the winter (which is summer down here) for a fun
Workations.
There are other reasons as well, which will probably be more apparent after
watching the webinar.
Who knows, maybe you will come join me for a few days on Praia Mole beach,
drinking coconut water straight from a fresh green coconut while sipping a cold Skol
as the waves splash at our feet as we share stories of life and business.

Vistage costs $9,600 a year, Ryan Deiss and Perry Belcher's Million Dollar Earners Mastermind costs $20,000 a year, Yanik Silver's Internet Maverick Business Adventures costs $7,500 a year, Strategic Coach costs $8,000 a year. Plus 2 other private groups. In addition to having my own business and life coach I meet with for 1 hour a week.
